Svarta glas

Per Gessle – Tits & Ass Demo, 13 October 1985

Natt över staden
Måne och stjärnor
Ljuden gör himlen
Rosa och röd
Natt över staden
Ett hjärta som vakar
Väntar och glimmar
Som guld och som glöd

Det är nu som jag längtar
Det är nu som jag väntar
Det är nu jag behöver
Någon som du

Jag kommer emot dej
Är framme och vänder
För du gömmer dej bakom
Svarta svarta glas
Vill se dina ögon
Vill ta dina händer
Men du gömmer dej bakom
Svarta svarta glas

Natt över staden
Jag är resenären
Fram och tillbaka
Och framåt igen
Natt över staden
Bilar och människor
Möts och passerar
Försvinner igen

Det är nu som jag längtar
Det är nu som jag väntar
Det är nu jag behöver
Någon som du

Jag kommer emot dej
Är framme och vänder
För du gömmer dej bakom
Svarta svarta glas
Vill se dina ögon
Vill ta dina händer
Men du gömmer dej bakom
Svarta svarta glas

Per: Oh yea! This is the very first demo of “Svarta glas” (it means “black glass”… or in this case “black glasses”…) Recorded at the tiny Tits & Ass Studio in Styrdal, Halmstad in October 1985! I wrote it for Swedish artist Pernilla Wahlgren but she and her record company never returned my calls… Instead it became the very first Roxette-recording (“Neverending Love”) but without the synths/drum machines I used for the demo. Clarence wanted a more organic sound so off we went with a brand new band. However, MP was still playing the guitar-hook just like on this demo. Very catchy, don’t you think?

Roxette – Neverending Love [Original Version] 3:29

Chasing your shadow
The senses together
Four-leafed and clever
I come from behind

Chasing your shadow
I wander in circles
You’re 1 in a million
We’re 2 of a kind

It’s you that I long for
It’s you that I hunger
Oh you are the maker
Of waves in my mind

We dance in the moonlight
A run on the wire
Drawing a fine line
A neverending love

The fever turns slowly
Into a fire
Drawing a fine line
A neverending love

Chasing your shadow
Moon and the water
Field and the reaper
Star and the sky

Chasing your shadow
Hammer and heartbeat
Clay and new concrete
I follow the signs

It’s you that I long for
It’s you that I hunger
And you are the maker
Of waves in my mind

We dance in the moonlight
A run on the wire
Drawing a fine line
A neverending love

The fever turns slowly
Into a fire
Drawing a fine line
A neverending love

We dance in the moonlight
A run on the wire
Drawing a fine line
A neverending love

The fever turns slowly
Into a fire
Drawing a fine line
A neverending love
