The Rain

Roxette – Demo, July 1991

Per Gessle – Tits & Ass Demo, 29 December 1991

Per: This one is the 2nd demo I made for “The Rain”. Must’ve been December 1991. The first one was made in July the same year and has got a totally different groove. Written for the Tourism-project. I always liked it, it's got that “build-up”… grow grow grow til you die… in its DNA that made Rox sound like Rox. Beautiful. Marie, of course, did a fab job making it spectacular in the studio later on. Big songs need big voices!

Roxette – Original Version 4:49

I was raised the Northern way
And my father had a Northern name
I did my crying out in the pouring rain
And a season turned into another one
I found a heart bright like the morning sun
He touched my lips so softly with his fingertips

But I kept the rain
Falling down on me
All the time
All the time
I kept the rain
Falling down on me
All the time
All the time

And some things in life won’t ever change
There’s a smell of a rusty chain
And of love disappearing like an aeroplane

I’ve kept the rain
Falling down on me
All the time
All the time
I’ve kept the rain
Falling down on me
All the time
All the time
